Gates of Olympus: a first walk around Zeus's screen
Gates of Olympus is a Pragmatic Play slot themed on the Greek god Zeus and his temple on Mount Olympus. Zeus stands beside the grid and now and then throws lightning that drops multiplier orbs. The first time you see it, the lights and animation can dazzle you. So this page shows the screen from top to bottom, one part at a time, so you can tell what's just decoration and what's the real count. Play happens only in the official lobby. No games run on this site.
What's on the Gates of Olympus screen, from top to bottom?
- The top: temple and logo. Golden pillars above the clouds and the game name. Nothing to tap here.
- Zeus: to one side of the grid when the phone is sideways, usually above the grid when it's upright. He's only animation. His movements don't hint at the next result.
- The grid in the middle: six columns and five rows. Coloured gems are the lower-value symbols, while symbols like the crown, hourglass, ring and chalice are worth more. See the paytable, with pictures, for what each one pays.
- The box beside the grid: many lobbies show "Buy Free Spins" and an Ante Bet switch on the left. In some places the buy button doesn't appear at all.
- The line below the grid: when a spin wins, the amount appears here; if a multiplier applies, that shows here too.
- The control bar at the bottom: menu, credit or balance, current bet, the big spin button in the middle, bet down and up on either side, plus autoplay and quick-spin buttons.
On day one, just learn these parts by sight, then read the "Paytable" and "Rules" pages from the menu. They list each symbol's value, the multiplier orb rules, the free spins rules and the game's RTP. The same game can have a different RTP in different lobbies, so read the percentage in the help of the game you actually opened.
The bottom bar shows three numbers side by side, and beginners often mix them up. "Credit" or balance is how much is in your account right now. "Bet" is how much each spin takes. "Win" only shows what the last spin or round brought in; it is not your total profit. To see how much you spent in a day, compare your starting balance with your current balance, not with a big number on the "Win" line. Paytable symbol values are usually shown for your current bet too, so open that page again after changing the bet.
How do you play Gates of Olympus?
- Type "Gates of Olympus" into the lobby search, or choose the Pragmatic Play provider under the slots tab. If it isn't there, whatever the lobby has is final.
- There may be several versions with the same name. Read the rules in the help of whichever one you open, since features differ between versions.
- Note the balance at the bottom, and press minus to bring the bet to the lowest level.
- Press spin. Symbols drop in from above. In the original version, a win counts when at least eight of the same symbol land anywhere on the grid. They don't need to touch, and there are no paylines.
- Winning symbols clear and new ones drop in (a tumble). When everything stops, compare the win line and your balance.
Tumbles keep going as long as they create new matches, and you don't press anything in between. By the rules, wins are added to your balance after the whole sequence ends, so don't panic if your balance doesn't change midway. Press the first few spins yourself and leave autoplay for later.
What do Zeus's multiplier orbs actually do?
During spins or tumbles, coloured orbs with a multiplier printed on them sometimes land on the grid. They can appear in normal play and in free spins. In normal play the rule is: when the whole tumble sequence ends, the values of all orbs on screen are added together, and that sequence's total win is multiplied by the sum. If the sequence has no win, an orb landing adds nothing.
Orbs look big and shiny, so beginners think one landing means a big win. In fact an orb's value can be small, and without a win it does nothing. The possible orb values are listed in the help; check them there. In normal play an orb from one spin does not carry over to the next; each spin starts fresh.
When do free spins come, and what changes on screen?
The grid has a special scatter symbol; the help shows which one with a picture. In the original version, four or more scatters in one spin start the free spins round. Enough scatters inside the round add extra spins. How many spins you get is written in your version's rules.
During free spins, two new numbers appear in a corner or at the top: the spins left and a total multiplier. In this round, when an orb lands on a winning spin, its value is added to the total multiplier and stays there until the round ends. On the next spin where a win and a new orb both land, the whole built-up multiplier applies. At the end of the round, the total win is shown in one go.
Nobody can say in advance when free spins will come. Plain explanations of these slot words are in the free spins lesson.
Ante Bet and Buy Free Spins: do you need them on day one?
Turning on Ante Bet raises the cost of each spin; in return the game rules say scatters are more likely. In the original version's rules, the buy button is disabled while it's on. After pressing the switch, check the bet amount at the bottom again.
Buy Free Spins lets you buy the free spins round directly, but it costs many times a normal spin. A bought round has no guaranteed win either. For beginners, leaving both off on day one is the simple and safe path.
How do you start with a small balance?
- Set today's money and time limit before you start.
- Start with three things: lowest bet, Ante Bet off, autoplay off.
- Check the balance at the bottom every few spins. Don't raise your bet because of Zeus's lightning or a big animation.
- When you reach your limit, close the game. Don't play again to win back a loss.
- If you doubt a spin result, check "History" in the menu or the lobby's game record, then if needed tell live chat with the time and a screenshot.
Deposits and withdrawals happen only in the lobby cashier; details are in the payments lesson. For another well-known slot from the same provider, see the Sweet Bonanza lesson; to learn common slot buttons, the slots lesson; and for all categories, the games list.
Why do I see more than one version of Gates of Olympus?
Providers make new versions on the same theme, and their rules or features can differ. The help page of the version you open is that game's rulebook.
If Zeus raises his hand, is an orb sure to land?
No. The animation is just for show. The result is set at the time of the spin; you can't guess anything from Zeus's pose.
What if the screen freezes or won't load?
Close the game and open it again from the lobby, on a better network if possible. If a spin was unfinished, reopening usually shows its result; if not, tell live chat.
Someone wants money to teach me a "secret trick". Should I pay?
No. There is no trick to know a slot result in advance. Offers like this are usually scams.
