Sic Bo: before you sit at the three-dice table for the first time

Coloured balls, a symbolic picture for table games, not Sic Bo's own screen

Sic Bo is an old dice game. Three dice are shaken together, and beforehand you place chips on a box on the table: for example, whether the total will be small or big, or whether a particular number will show. Online it comes in two kinds: live tables with a real dealer, and versions that run fully on animation. The two look different, but the parts are almost the same. On this page we tour the screen from top to bottom, then learn what each box means. Play happens only in the official lobby. There is no table on this site.

What does the Sic Bo screen show, from top to bottom?

The first time you open it, just watch a few rounds without placing anything: how the timer runs, when the dice come up, how the winning boxes light up. Then read the rules and paytable from the menu or "?" button.

Read the result display carefully. Usually the three dice appear side by side, with the total and "Big" or "Small" next to them. A triple is marked separately. At the same moment, the winning boxes on the table light up. Check whether the box with your chip lit up, then compare your balance at the bottom. On a phone the table boxes are small, so tapping the wrong box is very common. After placing a chip, lift your finger and check it sits in the right place. Turning the phone sideways makes the boxes bigger.

How do you play Sic Bo? One round, step by step

  1. Type "Sic Bo" into the lobby search; it may also be under the live casino or table games tab. If it isn't there, whatever the lobby has is final.
  2. At the table, first check your balance at the bottom and the table's bet limits, which are usually in the table info or menu.
  3. Choose the smallest chip.
  4. While the timer runs, tap once on the box you want to bet on. If you make a mistake, press Undo.
  5. Some tables need a separate button to confirm bets; check the rules.
  6. When the timer ends, the dice are shaken. When the result comes, winning boxes are highlighted and your balance changes. Compare the total bet and balance at the bottom.

Big, Small, Odd, Even: what do these boxes mean?

The total of three dice is at least 3 and at most 18. Under the usual rules, Small means a total of 4 to 10, and Big means 11 to 17. Odd and Even mean the total is odd or even.

One thing beginners often miss: at most tables, if all three dice show the same number (called a triple), Big, Small, Odd and Even bets all lose. So these are not exactly half-and-half chances. Check your table's rule in the help, since rules can differ between versions.

How do the total, double, triple and single-number boxes work?

Each box's payout can differ from table to table, and some live versions add random extra multipliers. So don't memorise any figures; check your own table's paytable. Remember, a box with a higher payout also comes up less often.

Can the result history tell you the next round?

No. In every round the three dice are shaken fresh; what came up last round has no link to the next. Thinking "Big came several times, so Small must come now" is wrong. The history chart is only for looking, not for telling the future. If someone tries to sell you a "pattern" or "signal", avoid them. People on Telegram or Facebook who promise "today's sure result" really want your money or your account details.

How do you start with a small balance?

For general live table rules and etiquette, read the live casino lesson. Deposits and withdrawals happen only in the lobby cashier; the steps are in the payments lesson. For other categories, see the games list.

What's the difference between live Sic Bo and animated Sic Bo?

In live play, a real dealer shakes the dice on video and everyone bets together on a timer. In the animated version, a computer creates the result and you can usually start rounds at your own pace. Rules and payouts can differ between the two.

Can I bet on more than one box in the same round?

Yes, at most tables. But each box's chip is a separate cost, so keep an eye on the total bet at the bottom.

I placed a chip but it didn't count in the round. Why?

Probably the tap landed after the timer ended, or the confirm button wasn't pressed. Check the game record to see whether the bet was accepted.

Is Sic Bo like Hazari or Ludo?

No. There are no pieces to move and no cards; you simply bet in advance on the result of three dice.
